Farm Your Yard with CCUA!

Join CCUA for an afternoon of hands-on informational workshops where you get to learn how to farm YOUR yard! This event is FREE to attend, however you must pre-register to reserve your spot. Get your free ticket and RSVP for EACH workshop you want to attend at check-out. Please make sure to note each workshop's time! Multiple workshops will be running at the same time.

Event Overview:

The event will take place from 2pm-7pm consisting of workshops, a social hour, and a Q&A panel!

  • Workshops – Workshops will run from 2pm-5:30. Workshops will run in three tracks. Attendees can select workshops from any track. See schedule below!
  • Refreshments – Enjoy refreshments after finishing your afternoon workshops, chat with our staff, and meet fellow gardeners in our community! A huge thank you to Missouri Farmers Union for sponsoring the food for this event.
  • Ask A Gardener” Panel – The event will conclude with a Q&A panel with CCUA staff and other local garden experts from 6pm-7pm.

Workshop Overview:

Workshops will run from 2pm-5:30 and consist of three different tracks outline below. Attendees do NOT need to stay within one track. Attendees can select classes across tracks, or attend as many or as few classes as they like!

  • Track 1: Learn about different types of gardens and how to install them such as: wooden raised beds, no-till gardens, and raised mound beds!
    • "How to Start A No-Till, Lasagna Garden Bed"
    • "Hands-On: How to Build A Raised Bed"
    • "Forming and Planting into In-Ground Raised Beds"
  • Track 2: Learn garden basics no matter how much space you have or what your experience level is such as: how to garden in containers, how to irrigate your garden, and how to plan out a square foot garden!
    • "Gardening Basics"
    • "Patio and Container Gardens"
    • "Home Garden Irrigation"
  • Track 3: Learn how to proactively and reactively “arm” your garden against pests with natural methods such as: planting natives for pest control, treating plants with natural materials, and companion planting!
    • "Preventing Pests while Promoting Photosynthesis"
    • "Attracting Beneficial Insects for Pest Control"
    • "Dealing with the Bugs that Bug You"
